Nova Scotia Trip- July 2008

We had a wonderful trip to Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. We stayed in the town of Ingonish Beach and had beautiful weather. Julia especially loved playing at the lake beach at Keltic.

We were so happy that Shoshana, Ella, Amelia, and Kate were there, as well as Nana, Papa, Aunt Diane, Uncle Harold, and Noah.

On one of the days, Stuart and Laina hiked the Skyline Trail and spent an afternoon in Cheticamp.

We loved spending time at the beach, playing in the sand and finding seashells.

On one of the days, Stuart played golf with Shoshana at Highland Links (Laina came along for the scenery).

We also enjoyed a fun morning in nearby Neil's Harbour and Black Brook beach. We got to see where the lobster fishermen bring in the traps.

On our last night, we went to Keltic to hear a local musician and eat lobster rolls.

A great time was had by all!

Our New House!

We bought a new house! Our new address will be 4535 Maple Street, Bellaire, TX 77401. The phone # at the new house is 713-349-9946. We can't wait to move in!

Happy 2nd Birthday Julia!

For Julia's 2nd Birthday (June 24th) we had a really fun Wiggles-themed party, complete with all of Julia's favorite things--music, dancing, chicken nuggets, and cupcakes!Julia had a fantastic time!



Miss Kay from Fundamentally Music led the kids in Wiggles songs and dances.


Julia's clear favorite was "The Wheels on the Bus."


The kids loved playing their guitars "like Murray"...



...and playing in bubbles...


...and doing the shaky shaky...


...and getting crazy in the streamers.

Julia especially loved dancing with her Mimi...

And eating cupcakes with Nana. And she was so happy that Nina, Papa, Poppy, Wandie, and so many other friends and family were also able to join her at her Wiggly Party!

Afterward, Julia and Poppy opened presents.

I Can't Wait for My 3rd Birthday!

We're Back!

Well THANK GOODNESS, we were able to recover all of our pictures and other data off of our computer, thanks to help of our friend Jeff Sizemore (husband of Carla at SSM)! So we're back and are going to do our best to catch everyone up on all that has gone on since our last post (which is a lot!).

Sorry, everyone, for the delay in postings. We've had a little glitch with our computer that houses most of our pictures. That incident, and all our house buying and selling activities, have distracted our attention away from the blog. But we hope to have some new postings soon!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

Julia is incredibly blessed with an exceptional Daddy and two very special grandfathers who love her to pieces. We were lucky to get to celebrate Father's Day with them in our traditional way--pool time, lots of margaritas and much food. Julia especially loved getting to swim with her Mommy, Daddy, Nana, Papa, Mimi, and Poppy (while Nina supervised, of course!). Here are some pics of everyone cooling off from the summer heat on Dad's Day.

Bye-Bye Baby Talk

Tonight, as we were listening to Julia "read" her picture books aloud, naming all the objects she knows--ball, slide, flower, elephant, pillow, peach, door, etc.--I realized, with combined feelings of wistfulness and pride, that Julia no longer speaks in her own, unidentifiable baby-talk language. Now, it's all big-girl words with actual real-life meanings that people other than J can understand. So from now on, we take delight in Julia's cutey-pie pronunciations of everyday words (like, "nulky nulky" for milk) for as long as those last.
